Bishop's War (may 2, 1639 – sep 3, 1640)
Description:
2 brief military/political campaigns fought between Charles I and Scotland, over Charles I's attempts to assert the authority of the Anglican Church over the Scottish Church. First war ended without battle, second war resulted in fighting.
Charles I dissolves short parliament (met briefly) when they opposed the renewal of war and lost to the Scots, losing land as a result.
Because of the loss, Charles I had to raise long parliament which will lead to the beginning of the English Civil War that paves way for Constitutional Monarchy.
