1095-1291: The Crusades (feb 11, 1096 – aug 28, 1291)

Description:

At the Council of Clermont, Pope II Urban persuaded many to join the Crusades with a speech that denounced Muslims, exaggerated their anti-Christian acts, and offered indulgences for those who died in the Crusades. Motivated by this and the possibility of increasing personal wealth, many people joined the Crusades. However, during the Crusades, many Muslims, Jews, and even fellow Christian cities were ruthlessly raided and slaughtered. Such actions gave Christianity a negative impression and resulted in strained relations between Muslims and Christians.
