Use of Papyrus Rolls (jan 1, 2900 BC – jan 1, 1000)
Description:
Papyrus was an abundant resource in Ancient Egypt, used by trained scribes to record information. Egypt would export this valuable resource to other areas throughout the Mediterranean. The increase in the use of scrolls led to the need for shelves to store them and sillyboi tabs to label their contents. Their use by the papacy up until the 11th century highlights the importance of the papyrus scroll.
