Isaac II Angelos (1185-1195) (sep 12, 1185 – apr 8, 1195)
Description:
Son of a general, Isaac seized the opportunity when Andronikos' popular support failed and claimed the throne. Much of his reign was spent fighting the Bulgarian uprising, and as his campaigns became less successful his popularity waned. His older brother Alexios had him blinded and imprisoned and was acclaimed emperor by his troops.
