Tradition of Militarism (dec 1, 1918 – dec 2, 1934)
Description:
Prussia, one of Germany's founding states, was reliant on it's military. Once Germany was unified under Prussian leadership in 1866, militarism became a staple of German culture. This built and coagulated until World War One. Once Germany's army was defeated, the Treaty of Versailles was used to dismantle Germany's army. This backfired for some: some saw the sense in it, but Germany was rooted in it's ways, and saw this as a suppression of their culture and rights.
