The first cellphones (dec 1, 1973 – dec 1, 2007)

Description:

Dr. Martin Cooper, an engineer at Motorola was determined to develop a less restrictive portable telephone. In 1973 he accomplished that, thus beating his competition at Bell Labs (AT&T). He made the first ever mobile phone call in New York to his top opponent using a system he created called the Radio Telephone System. He made the
mobile phone called with the DynaTAC 8000X, which was later released to the public in 1983. The first mobile phone was drastically different than the cell phones we carry today, it was very expensive, bulky, and needed a 10 hour charging period just to talk for 30 minutes. Although in later years Cooper's invention of the mobile phone improved. Motorola released the first flip phone in 1989. The hardware replacement made the flip phone the first phone to allow consumers to easily fit in their pocket. In 1992 Motorola introduced the first phone with 2G technology, which was the Motorola 3200 international. Shortly after in 1997, came the company Phillips who brought Synergy one of the first efforts at a smart phone. Synergy allowed the users to access the Internet, faxes, and e-mails. After that flip phones quickly evolved with different features every year from various companies. In 1999 picture messaging and GPS became possible on cell phones and In 2000 cameras started to be added as well. These rapid changes were a catalyst for the new age of the Smart phone technology In coming years.
