Touch-tone phones (jan 1, 1963 – jan 1, 1972)

Description:

In the 1960's the touch-tone replaced the rotary phone due to its efficiency and enhanced user experience. Users could simply press buttons to call a number instead of turning the rotary dial for each number. The Bell systems introduced the first commercial touch-tone phone in 1963. Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, a theoretical physicist at Bell Labs played a major role in enabling the invention of my many technological advances with her scientific research and experiments. The touch-tone phone, the fax machine, the portable fax, and caller ID are some inventions that she is recognized for, which some are still use today.
