Description:

Warring factions: Iran vs Kurdish separatist groups
Location: Kurdistan Province and the southern parts of West Azerbaijan Province, Iran, Soran and Sidekan districts of Iraqi Kurdistan
Note: Rojhelat population of Kruds was growing discontent with the Iranian government, and would begin a series of attacks against the Iranian Government Security Forces. As the war in Iraq grew, Iran sent more troops to build up along the border with Iraq. Five Kurdish rights activists were reported to have been executed by the Iranian military in Urmia city.
Support: Saudi Arabia was accused of sending funds to the Kurdish insurgent groups through their consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan.
