Description:
Intent: Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani, wanted to establish an independent Kurdish state.
Warring factions: KDP (Kurdish Democratic Party), Iran, Israel vs Iraq, Syria, and Egypt.
Notes: The United States (John F. Kennedy) and the United Kingdom supplied Iraq with 1000-4000 napalm bombs.
Kurds received support from Iran and Israel, both of whom had the intention of weakening Iraq.
Israel also thought that any Jews living in Iraq could flee to Israel through Kurdish territory.
