Description:

The Hellenistic Age began after Alexander the Great died in 323 BC. A little history of Alexander is that he had built ag giant empire that stretched from Greece to Egypt and even into India. After his death, his generals split the empire into different cities. Even though the cities was divided, Greek culture spread everywhere. Cities like Alexandria in Egypt became places of learning, like science and art. People spoke Greek across most of the country, and Greek ideas had mixed with local cultures, creating a more new traditions. During the Hellenistic Age, people still believed in the Greek gods like Zeus and Athena, but they also added new gods from other parts of cultures. Temples, theaters, and libraries were still being built in a lot of cities, showing that learning and religion were still very important. People enjoyed plays, music, and sports. The scientists and inventors made new discoveries in math, astronomy, and medicine. The rich and poor were being separated now, and people's lives were getting much busier with the culture expanding. Overall, this age was a time when Greek culture grew and changed as it connected with the wider world.
