Garibaldi rules Sicily (may 15, 1860 – jun 6, 1860)

Description:

- Instead of proclaiming Sicilian allegiance to Victor Emmanuel II and preparing for annexation by Piedmont, he showed no urgency in handing over control. he intended to use Sicily as a base for further conquest aiming for Naples and potentially even Rome a move both Cavour and the French would oppose

- Initially he wanted to ally with the peasants in July but he changed his mind and tried to ally with the nobles. Then he crushes the peasants revolt, betraying them. Before he promised land redistribution and abolition of grain taxes, however by August, he shifted he's allegiance to the landlords, because he though he needed their support more to maintain order before invading Naples.

- shows he was not that stupid as they thought and actually did a lot for Italy
