Garibaldi plans expedition to Nice (apr 1, 1860 – apr 30, 1860)

Description:

- he calls Cavour a 'low intriguer'
- he wants to take back Nice but Cavour did not want that to happen so they took his attention away

- a peasant revolt happens in Sicily and he is encouraged to go join them and revolt against the Kingdom
- The Italian National Society who backed the revolt asked Garibaldi to lead it. Cavour may have subtly encouraged this move to divert Garibaldi’s attention from Nice ‘
- Cavour’s position on the expedition remains debated. He seems like he tried to help Garibaldi to leave, although he refused Garibaldi’s request for more supplies and may have tried to convince Victor Emmanuel II to arrest him.

- Cavour helped him to get there although he did not help him win. He might have been involved in getting the ship for Garibaldi only to leave.
