Description:

芈姓，熊氏，名贞，字子囊。楚庄王的儿子。春秋时期楚国令尹。被任为令尹后，为与晋国对抗，先后六次北伐。从实践中深感楚、晋力量相当，主张不与晋争。楚康王即位后，率楚军伐吴失利。死前已预感到吴对楚的威胁，遗言加修楚郢城墙。
