Berlin Wall (aug 13, 1961 – nov 9, 1989)
Description:
On August 13, 1961, The Soviet Union built the Berlin Wall, a 155 kilometer long wall that cut through the city center of West Berlin, and surrounded West Berlin. It was used to prevent the people of West Berlin from escaping into East Berlin. The goal was to keep Germany divided, but it was taken down on November 9, 1989.
