March on Washington Movement (MOWM) (jan 1, 1941 – sep 1, 1954)
Description:
A. Philip Randolph founded this movement to to sustain pressure on white authorities to provide fair working opportunities and desegragate the armed forces during WWII. 30 special trains and 2,000 buses were filled to capacity with white and black people. An important part of the marches were the speeches delivered by various civil rights leaders.
