Berlin Blockade (jun 24, 1948 – may 21, 1949)
Description:
From June 24, 1948, to May 21, 1949, during the Cold War, the Soviet Union blocked all land and water access to West Berlin. The goal of the Soviet Union was to force its Western Allies to abandon their sectors in the city, which in turn would allow the Soviet Union to do as it pleased with the land. After a year, and many airlift deliveries to West Berlin, the Soviet Union eventually gave in, and lifted the blockade.
