Description:

Hawkeye and his family travel to New York for Christmas, first proper Christmas since the blip. Hawkeye walks through the streets of New York reminiscing about the past, reading a memorial sign about Avengers 1. While walking around New York with his family, his wife gets attacked by an anonymous assassin. The assassin isn't successful, but manages to shoot Hawkeye's wife in the stomach. The assassin gets away, and Hawkeye's wife is immediately transported to a hospital in critical condition. Hawkeye furious and in grief contacts Nick Fury for assistance, however is told he is unreachable, however assistance is sent from S.W.O.R.D to protect his wife in the hospital, and Maria Hill arrives and offers to help, but Hawkeye refuses but asks her to take care of his children. He knows what he must do. He finds his old Ronin outfit, and begins a path of retribution. For the first time since the blip he feels an urge to kill. He finds a lead, which leads him to warehouse in New York, and he feels the same grief since the blip, which makes him massacre the warehouse. This massacre gets the attention of the authorities, and the attention of The Punisher. The Punisher tracks down a newly awaken Ronin, where they encounter each other, reuniting since the blip. The Punisher says that Hawkeye had made a promise to leave the Ronin life behind since the end of the blip. Ronin explains his actions, and The Punisher calls him out for his hypocrisy, but offers to help, but warns that his soul may not recover. Ronin ignores the warning, and agrees to team up to find the culprit. The show becomes a serious, violent, buddy cop style show. Over the course of a few weeks, they track and kill through the leads. They finally discover the assassin which turns out to be Bullseye. The Punisher and Ronin take him down, but get heavily injured themselves. The Punisher offers to finish him off, but Ronin takes his knife and kills him. After this both The Punisher and Ronin split up, once again with respect and friendship, but The Punisher warns him again about his soul, and whether it can be saved. Ronin once again ignores the warning, and returns to the hospital after getting a phone call warning about his wife's critical condition. Once he arrives it is too late, his wife dies. Hawkeye in complete grief realises his actions, and realises what Ronin represents; death at all costs for vengeance, leaving him with no humanity, to the point of leaving his wife's side in her final hours for revenge. He finally vows to never kill again and be a good father, retiring both his Ronin and Hawkeye persona.

It is revealed that Bullseye wasn't acting alone, but was ordered by Kingpin to assassinate Hawkeye's Wife.
