Description:
SALT I (Strategic Arms Limitation Talks I) was a series of talks between the United States and the Soviet Union to limit the number of nuclear missiles in their arsenals. It resulted in agreements on limiting anti-ballistic missile (ABM) systems and strategic offensive arms. The first round of talks, from 1969-1972, led to the SALT I Treaty, which was signed on May 26, 1972.
