Battle of Berlin (apr 16, 1945 – may 2, 1945)

Description:

The Battle of Berlin, a decisive engagement in the European theater of World War II, took place from April 16 to May 2, 1945. It was part of the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation, where Soviet forces launched a major attack on the city, ultimately leading to its capture and the downfall of Nazi Germany. The Red Army, spearheaded by two fronts, attacked Berlin from the east and south, encircling the city after successful battles at Seelow Heights and Halbe. Hitler, holed up in the Führerbunker, committed suicide on April 30, along with other prominent Nazi leaders; following this, the German armies began surrendering to Soviet forces.
