Hyperinflation (jan 1, 1922 – jan 1, 1923)
Description:
The Hyperinflation in Germany was caused by multiple things. For example, the large war reparations put in place by the Treaty of Versailles led to mass economic hardship. But the most direct cause was the occupation of the Ruhr by France in 1923, which led to production completely stopping. To counteract the lack of money, the German government started simply printing more money, which led to mass inflation.
