First Israeli invasion of Lebanon (mar 14, 1978 – mar 21, 1978)
Description:
In response to the Coastal Road massacre, an attack by Palestinian militants in Lebanon resulting in the deaths of 38 Israeli citizens, 13 of which were children, the IDF invades South Lebanon during a longstanding civil war between different religous groups.
Upwards of 2,000 Lebanese and Palestinians, and 20 Israelis are killed, while between 100,000 and 250,000 in Lebanon are displaced.
