Sonny Perdue served as the Governor of Georgia from 2003 to 2011. During his two terms in office, he focused on tax cuts, education reform, and infrastructure improvements. A key moment in his tenure was overseeing Georgia's response to devastating natural disasters, including hurricanes and droughts, as well as his efforts to strengthen the state's economy through various business initiatives. Perdue also made headlines for his decision to lead the state through the 2008 financial crisis and the creation of Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship program, which aimed to provide college tuition assistance to Georgia residents.
