Thomas William Hardwick (jun 25, 1921 – jun 30, 1923)
Description:
Thomas William Hardwick served as the Governor of Georgia from 1921 to 1923. His time in office was marked by his strong support for white supremacy and opposition to civil rights, including his controversial stance on racial segregation. Hardwick was also embroiled in a significant controversy when he opposed the return of the bodies of Georgia soldiers killed in World War I, leading to widespread public outcry. His tenure ended when he lost the Democratic primary, partly due to his unpopularity and failed attempts at implementing progressive reforms.
