John Weareat (aug 6, 1779 – nov 3, 1779)
Description:
John Wereat served as governor of Georgia from August to November of 1779 during the American Revolutionary War. His time in office was focused on strengthening Georgia's defenses against British forces and maintaining order amidst the conflict. Wereat worked to support the Continental Army, dealing with logistical challenges and military coordination. Although his term was very short, he played an important role in keeping Georgia engaged in the war effort until the state was retaken by American forces.
