The Age of Enlightenment (jan 1, 1688 – jan 1, 1815)
Description:
The Enlightenment was a time period where many great philosophers such as John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau began to question the status quo, and whether or not the power dynamics in European countries were just. For example, traditionally, society has sort of a system of levels of power, where the lowest class has the least power in society and as the classes progress upwards, the amount of power rises. However, Locke’s ideas about forms of government completely eliminate these class systems, putting everyone on the same level instead of having people above others.
