Description:
The First Sino-Japanese War was fought between China and Japan over control of Korean Peninsila. Japan, with its modern military, easily defeated China. The war ended with the Treaty of Shimonoseki, where China had to give Taiwan and the Pescadores Islands to Japan, pay a large compensation, and give Japan more rights in China.The war showed Japan's rise as a world power and revealed China's weakness.
