American Revolution (apr 19, 1775 – sep 3, 1783)

Description:

This was a revolt against the British empire in the American colonies. The root cause was the British taxing the colonies even though the colonies had no representation in the government. This led to high tensions between the two, and after a few acts were enforced, the colonies revolted for Independence. Important people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Alexander Hamilton all played a major role in the creation of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Independence of the colonies.
