Description:
In 1774 Louis XVI inherited a country in financial crisis but proved indecisive and incapable of implementing necessary reforms. During the Revolutionary period, he was not cooperative with the new regime, and ultimately the monarchy was abolished on 21st September 1792, and he was executed the following year.Added to timeline:
