本姓丘穆陵氏，怀州河内县（今河南省沁阳市）人，鲜卑族。唐朝官员，安阳县令穆元休的孙子，秘书监穆宁次子。
个性耿直，起家右补阙，迁给事中，评论时政得失。唐宪宗继位，反对任用太监吐突承璀主持平定王承宗叛乱，迁太子左庶子，受累于杨凭，出任开州刺史，卒于任上。
