Description:
(15 - 18th century) Masquerade Masks come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Many are elaborate and often adorned with jewels or feathers (Masquerade Balls). Types of masks include “Bauta”, a mostly white mask that covers most of the face, excluding the mouth (Masquerade Balls- Brief History & Key Facts). Another type of mask is “Arlecchino”, a mask that utilizes multicolored patchwork (Masquerade Balls- Brief History & Key Facts). They were intricately designed for not only the wearers to be able to eat, talk, and express themselves, but also alludes to the mystery and anonymity of individuals who partake in these types of events (Masquerade Balls- Brief History & Key Facts).
