Mikhail Gorbachev (jul 1, 1985 – jul 1, 1991)

Description:

He also wanted to fix communism in the Soviet Union. Perestroika (1987) reflected the Chinese idea of private enterprises rather than under government. Unlike Xiaoping, Gorbachev attempted political and cultural reforms, such as implementing glanost, which supported cultural freedoms. However, this backfired and expoed crimes, prostitution, child abuse, suicide, elite corruption, and homelessness, to the media. These things were previously associated with capitalism. Gorbachev also replaced the Communist Party with a parliamentary democracy with open elections. Unlike Xiaoping, Gorbachev did not prevent revolts. This eventually caused them to fall out of power.
