Description:

Lee was trying to march his troops up to Washington to force a peace treaty but he was chased and confronted by union troops In Gettysburg Pennsylvania. On the first day the confederates were able to drive back the union troops but on the second day they couldn't brake the line. On the third day Lee tried to charge into the center of the union but it resulted in 60% confederate casualties. Lee was forced to retreat, it was such a crushing defeat he offered to resign from his position but was denied. After the battle President Linchon delivered one of his most famous speeches the Gettysburg Address.
