Vicksburg (may 18, 1863 – jul 4, 1863)
Description:
President Davis saw Vicksburg (A fortress port along the Mississippi river) as the point that holds the south together so the union saw that it was imperative to capture it. General grant tried to assault the Port multiple times but was unable to peitrate s he settled for a long seige which eventually made the fortress surrender to the union. This was a massive victory for the union as it essentially split the confederacy in half.
