Aristarchus of Samos 310 BC
1.) He was a Greek astronomer who maintained that earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the sun.
2.) He showed that the sun is between 18 and 20 times farther away from earth then the moon is.
3.) He presented the first known heliocentric model that placed the sun at the center of the universe with the earth revolving around the sun once a year and rotating about its axis once a day. (dec 1, 311 BC – jun 1, 303 BC)
