Slavery in The US (jan 1, 1526 – dec 4, 1865)

For a long periode in American history slavery has been a big part of it.
In the begining of the colonization British colonizts brought African people to the US so that they could work for them. The slaves was used for heavy and hard work. Most of the men worked at the docks or at farms.
In the 1500's mostly Spain and Portugal brought slaves to America, but in the 1600's the British settlers also brought slaves to the US.
The translantic trade grew in the 1700's. It is estimated that aroiund 12,5 million slaves was moved from Africa to the US and 10,7 million survived the trip over the atlantic ocean.
However most of the Africans went to Brazil and the Caribbeans, but there were still a significant numbers of Africans who were moved to the US.
Many of the slaves who came to the US worked on farms where they picked cotton, tobacco, rice and sugar.
The transatlantic trade was the trading route that included Africa, North America and Europe. From Africa enslaved people was sent to America and also gold, ivory, spices and hardwood was sent to Europe.
From America sugar, silk, indigo, tobacco, rice and other materials got sent to Europe.
Europe sent guns, cloth, iron and beer to Africa and they sent manufactures goods and luxeries to America.
