Cromwellian Confiscations (1650s–1660s) (jan 1, 1650 – jan 1, 1660)
Description:
Many Irish landowners, especially those of Gaelic descent, were dispossessed and forced westward to Connacht under the Cromwellian Act of Settlement (1652).
Those who lost their lands were rarely recorded in official documents unless they converted to Protestantism or became tenants under new English landlords.
