First Crusade (jan 1, 1086 – dec 15, 1090)
Description:
After a Maturdi Invasion into the Eastern Roman Empire was successfull the Pope called for all Catholics of the known world to join him in a Great Holy War against this eastern menace. The Pope called for the lands of the Kingdom of Bulgaria to be taken as a buffer state between this Islamic menace and the rest of Europe. Luckily with the help of the locals who were already revolting the First Crusade ended in a short victory for the armies of God. For the bravery shown by the Czech kings one of Vratislav's sons was rewarded the title of King of Bulgaria and Defender of the Faith in the east.
