Sepoy Mutiny (may 10, 1857 – jul 8, 1859)
Description:
The Sepoy Mutiny, also known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857, was a revolt by Indian soldiers (sepoys) against the British East India Company. It started due to issues like the use of animal fat in rifle cartridges, which offended Hindu and Muslim soldiers. The rebellion spread across northern and central India but was eventually defeated by the British. The mutiny led to the British government taking direct control of India, ending the rule of the East India Company.
