Roundtable conferences (sep 1, 1931 – sep 1, 1931)
Description:
The first roundtable conference took place in London to discuss the Simon commission report and was boycotted by the congress. Gandhi was released in 1931 and the Gandhi-Irwin pact was made. The second roundtable conference took place in London but was a failure as none of the demands of the Congress were taken. Gandhi returned to India and the Civil Disobedience movement resumed.
