Gandhi's arrest (may 5, 1930 – may 5, 1930)

Description:

Gandhi was arrested for 1 year but his act of disobedience sparked rallies, marches, picketing of shops, and breaking of the slat law all over the country. over 100,000 people were arrested, including Sarojini Naidu, the first woman to be arrested in the salt march. Other Notable leaders include Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, nicknamed "frontier Gandhi", who led the movement in the north-west frontier. A close associate of Gandhi, C. Rajagopalachari, organized the Vedaranyam march, which was the same as the salt march but in the east coast. Sardar Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru were other prominent leaders. Peasants, women, workers, teenagers and tribals from Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar, and the hill tribes of kangra participated.
