Old French (jan 1, 760 – jan 1, 1350)
Description:
This is the time period when Old French was spoken. Old French developed from the Vulgar Latin spoken in the Roman province of GALLIA. It is characterized both by influence from the Celtic languages previously spoken in the area, as well as the newly introduced Frankish which is a Germanic variety. This language would later develop into Modern French as well as other regional languages in France.
