1957 - Central Rock High School - Little Rock 9 Even though the segregation of public schools was now illegal, Arkansas govener Orval Faubus called the Arkansas National Guard to prevent nine African-American students from entering the school. However, President Dwight D Eisenhower sent 1,000 members of the U.S Army to guard and protect the students.
