索头部鲜卑部族的领袖，前207年—前204年为索头首领，在位时统一了索头部鲜卑部族。
《魏书·序记》记载其“聪明武略，远近所推，统国三十六，大姓九十九，威振北方，莫不率服。”魏道武帝拓跋圭称帝时，谥其为成。
