The Suez Crisis (jan 1, 1954 – jan 1, 1956)
Description:
The Suez Crisis occurred due to the struggle to gain control of the Suez Canal in Egypt. Nasser was the president of Egypt starting in 1954 and embodies a new, independent, anti-colonialist spirit. The Egyptian government seized control of the canal from the British and French owned company that managed it, which led to consequences for US relations between both European and Middle Eastern countries.
