Description:
US & GB immediately prioritized getting FRG into NATOF = initially reluctant to rearm Germany, agreed w/ EDC treaty to limit West German army & renounce nuclear weapons (along w/ GB’s promise to keep 4 military divisions w/ aircrafts in FRG)
May 5: Treaty came into place = Troops would remain in FRG & Berlin would stay under Four-Power Control until united federal Germany integrated into democratic Western Europe
May 9: FRG joined NATO
