William I, also known as Wilhelm I, was the King of Prussia and a German Emperor. He was the first leader of a unified germany. He rose to power through the military, such as in the war of the Sixth Coalition. His brother, Frederick William IV, denied the throne when offered it in 1848, and William I ascended to the throne on his brother's death.Added to timeline:
