Creation of the EPA (jan 1, 1970 – dec 20, 1970)

Description:

- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was estabished on July 9, 1970, but it opened on December 2, 1970.
- Its was created in reponse to public outrage over environmental pollution and a demand for cleaner air, water, and land.
- William Ruckelshaus became the EPA's first administrator on December 4, 1970.
- Establishing this agency was very surprising by that time, as most of the people didn't really know/care about the environment (similar to nowadays).
- EPA would protect the environment with the implementation of new laws and measures.
