Description:
The Vietnam War is a prolonged military conflict that starts as an anti-colonial war against the French and evolves into a Cold War confrontation between international communism and free-market democracy. North Vietnam is supported by the Soviet Union, China, and other communist countries, while the United States and its anti-communist allies back South Vietnam. US involvement in the conflict escalates, taking part in a series of intense bombing campaigns and committing hundreds of thousands of US ground troops to the fight. After the United States withdraws from the conflict, North Vietnam invades the South and unites the country under a communist government which still exists today.Added to timeline:
