Brusilov Offensive (jun 4, 1916 – sep 20, 1916)
Description:
The greatest offensive by the Russians during the war. This attack drew German and Austro-Hungarian forces away from the western front, aiding in the success of the Battle of Verdun, and the Battle of the Somme.
Though Russia succeed in it's mission in heavily weakening the Austro-Hungarian forces, the Russians themselves were weakened.
This battle ended with nearly a million dead, wounded, and captured soldiers from both sides.
