Nicolaus Copernicus
19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543 (feb 19, 1473 – may 24, 1543)
Description:
Copernicus was a Renaissance polymath, active as a mathematician, astronomer, and Catholic canon, who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than Earth at its center. His father was a merchant and his mother was the daughter of a very wealthy Torun merchant. His father died when he was 10, his education was at these universities the University of Kraków, the University of Bologna, and the University of Padua. Copernicus was one to study the stars and formulated that the sun is the middle of our universe, not Earth as previously thought which is called the Copernicus Revolution. Two interesting facts about Nicolaus Copernicus are he was a physician (but he didn't have a medical degree) and he attended four universities before earning a degree.
